Saddam Ibrahim on the Bangladeshis’ Executions in Saudi Arabia
A Defence of Liberal Democracy and Its Role in Human Well-Being
The execution of the Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia should remind anti-Westerners that, despite its flaws, liberal democracy remains the best system for maximising human well-being.
In Western democracies, you won't be sentenced to death for your speech or harmless actions.
In China, you can face severe punishment and even death for speaking out. In Islamic theocracies, you can be executed for violating religious laws.
Theocracy and authoritarian systems like those of China, North Korea and Iran place power above individual freedom and human dignity.
Look at the protests on September 29, 2026 in France, if it was in Iran, the government would have killed thousands of protesters by now, as it has done in the past.
